As mother of this crazy brood, welcome to the CimFam! Some of you have been with us from the start and watched the girls grow (both musically and physically!), and we feel like we know you. To those of you who are just finding us, we’re glad you’re here! Let me tell you a bit about us.
Mike Sr. and I (Lynne) are parents of these 11 kids, 6 girls and 5 boys. The 6 girls make up the group Cimorelli, which is a pop group specializing in vocal harmony. While they love acappella singing, they all play instruments and write music, and the album they’re working on is full of awesome instrumentals along with the rich vocal harmony they’ve become known for. I’m loving it!
Our sons are all musical, too. Mike Jr (22) plays guitar and sings. He’s more of a rocker, although he loves to play lead guitar for his sisters when they need him. Alex (14) sings and is learning the bass, Christian (9) sings and is learning bass, guitar, and drums, Nick (7) sings and is dabbling in piano, and Joey (6) sings and is obsessed with playing drums, bass, guitar, and piano. If we owned more instruments, I think he’d be obsessed with those, too. He loves to play drums while Mike plays guitar – they love to play all kinds of crazy stuff by ACDC, Metallica, and stuff that Mike writes.
Mike works at a gym as a personal trainer, and in his off time, he loves working out, hiking, fixing up his Mustang, and getting together with his musical friends and having really LOUD jam sessions.
Alex loves paddleboarding with his friends, and he bought an old canoe this summer that he’s been fixing up. He also loves to crawl under the hood of our cars with Mike and fix stuff. Alex enjoys long bike rides by the beach, and he’s becoming quite the BBQ master.
Christian, Nick and Joey spend their days playing outside in the treehouse, on the trampoline, at the beach on boogie boards and skimboards, and in the house reading books and playing games. They love hanging out with their sisters; they especially like standing outside the window making faces at them or making loud noises when the girls are making videos.
Mike Sr. spends his days building buildings, and I spend mine hauling kids to the recording studio, dance sessions, the beach, the park, and the grocery store. Twice a year I write musicals with a partner (I write the music, my partner writes the story), which feeds my creative side. I also homeschool everyone from Amy down; the oldest four finished a few years ago and have all done from 2-4 years of college each.
A year ago we moved to Southern California, so we’ve had lots of interesting adventures since we moved here. It took a while to get acclimated and figure out how to get around. Being from a small quiet town in Northern California, suddenly having to drive into Hollywood for recording sessions was a huge change for us. This summer’s big adventure has been meeting a new set of friends and learning paddleboarding and surfing.
